For Therapists:
Consider Coaching as a Step-Down for your Terminating Client
Coaching is not therapy, and therapy is not coaching. But each can have its place in the life of one of your clients. Perhaps you’ve seen your client make great progress and become so stable that they no longer meet medical necessity for therapy. But they need…something. Maybe it’s coaching! Consider referring your stable, non-DSM, post-therapy clients to me for support in other areas of life, including:
Goal identification and achievement
Attaining and maintaining an effective mindset
Time structuring
Priority setting
Thinking big and brainstorming options
Decision making
They can always return to you later if their mental health issues return. And in the mean time, they’re not just turned loose with no further structure. Please call me to discuss if you think you have a client who might be right for coaching!
